We would like to invite you to the exhibition
“UN at 60 – A Time for Renewal,” organized by the
UN Representative Office in the Russian Federation
in cooperation with ITAR-TASS news agency. The
exhibition opens on 24 October, when the United
Nations Day is celebrated each year.
This year we mark the 60th anniversary of the
United Nations Organization, officially
established on 24 October 1945, when the UN
Charter was ratified by China, France, the Soviet
Union, Great Britain, the United States and the
majority of the states that signed the
Charter.
Unique photo materials (more than 100 photos)
from the archives of the United Nations and
ITAR-TASS news agency are displayed at our
exhibition. The photos depict the milestones of
the creation of the United Nations Organization
and participation of the Soviet Union in this
process; major events in the UN international
activity in the following years up to our times
with active involvement of the Soviet Union and
the Russian Federation, and the work of the UN
system today. Apart from the photos of the UN
Secretary-Generals and Soviet and Russian leaders,
photos of common UN employees and, most
importantly, those for whom the Organization
works, are on display.
UN Resident Coordinator in the Russian
Federation Mr. Ercan Murat, Member of the
Collegium of ITAR-TASS Yakov Borovoy,
representatives of Russian ministries and
agencies, diplomatic corps, non-governmental
organizations, business community, and academia
will take part in the opening ceremony of the
photo exhibition.
The photo exhibition will take place in the
Centre of Eastern Literature of the Russian State
Library, 6, Mokhovaya Street (“Biblioteka
im.Lenina” metro station), 24-30 October 2005. The
exhibition is open daily from 10:00-18:00. Free
entrance. |
