Valeria is not a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador

Published: 6.02.2006

In December 2005 there were a number of articles stating that the Russian pop-singer Valeria received an official invitation from the UNICEF Representative of the Russian Federation Mr. Carel de Rooy to become a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

Herewith UNICEF declares that while an informal preliminary meeting was undertaken on November 13 between the UNICEF Representative and the pop-singer with her manager no subsequent follow-up discussion occurred nor was an official offer sent to Valeria. UNICEF did not sign any contract with Valeria and therefore Valeria has no rights to represent UNICEF in any capacity.
