The “Russia and The United Nations” exhibition presented photos and publications on programmes and projects of the UN Office in the Russian Federation. The UN Office unifies over 20 UN funds, agencies, and other structures, which are providing support to the Russian government and to the people of Russian Federation in solving problems of economic and social development of the country.

The exhibition presented materials reflecting the activities of 14 UN agencies in Russia: the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), International Labour Organization (ILO), World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), World Food Programme (WFP), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), World Bank (WB), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United Nations Information Centre in Moscow.

On the stands, one could find books, brochures and booklets dedicated to the UN programmes in Russia related to social and economic development, humanitarian assistance, HIV/AIDS, demography, gender issues, rights of children, situation with refugees and migrants, education and health, science and culture, labour issues, human rights, environment, crime prevention and drug control, agricultural development.

The majority of publications reflected the progress of the country in the achievement of the UN Millenium Development Goals. The Goals are focused on eradication of poverty and were adopted in 2000 at the Millennium Summit by 147 heads of state and by representatives of 189 countries, including the Russian Federation.

Overall, 200 publications were presented, and during two days of work, around 2000 copies of these publications were distributed.
