VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT - Associate Fundraising Communication Officer (P2)
This position is responsible for delivering communication activities and content to support UNHCR¿s fundraising and engagement campaigns aimed specifically at private sector audiences. This includes Cause Related Marketing campaigns with corporate partners and thematic fundraising campaigns such as ¿Nobody Left Outside¿, UNHCR¿s first global fundraising campaign to shelter 2 million refugees by 2018.
Communication outputs (i.e. activities and content) will be guided by the broader campaign strategies led by the fundraising communication officer (leadership giving) or the fundraising communication officer (campaigns). The incumbent will work in close collaboration with the Leadership Giving (LG) team and will liaise frequently with internal and external stakeholders including LG donors and creative agencies.
The incumbent will help to progressively increase income to UNHCR from the private sector through effective communication related to campaigns that aim to raise funds or generate leads.
FUNCTIONAL STATEMENT
Accountability
- Private sector campaign communication is strategic, engaging and on-brand.
Responsibility
- Support the drafting of communication plans for campaigns.
- Research news hooks, story angles and creative opportunities to optimize communication.
- Stay abreast of current trends and techniques in social media and digital marketing.
- Plan and develops content and assets for use on diverse communication channels.
- Write press releases and human interest stories.
- Plan social media assets including drafting of posts and conceptualizing content.
- Day to day liaison with creative agencies.
- Write briefs for videographers, photographers.
- Organize content systematically in a toolkit for use by PSP markets.
- Ensure effective measurement of outputs.
- Build trusted, effective relationships with the PSP network.

- Deliver communication activities and content that demonstrate a clear strategic link with broader campaign strategies.
ESSENTIAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- University degree in Communication, Journalism, Marketing or equivalent.
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience (with 2 years advanced university degree) in Public Relations, Journalism or Public Information.
- Excellent writing skills for media purposes imperative i.e. press releases, Q&A.
- Experience pitching stories to journalists and building relationships with the media imperative.
- Proven experience using social media platforms, tools and tactics for engagement.
- Fluency in English and working knowledge of a language used in the fundraising markets (Spanish, French, Arabic and Japanese).
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- Understanding of fundraising including Cause Related Marketing and corporate fundraising.
- Experience working on communication campaigns with multiple stakeholders.

CURRENT SITUATION
The core objectives of the Private Sector & Partnerships Service is to raise awareness and funds from private sector donors for the organization. The Strategy & Marketing Section is one of the Service's three sections - Leadership Giving, Fundraising Support and Strategy & Marketing. The Fundraising Communication team is a part of the Strategy & Marketing Section.
The Fundraising Communication team provides a global service that cuts across PSP's income generating streams - Individual Giving and Leadership Giving. The team's purpose is to support PSP markets in the acquisition and retention of individual and leadership giving donors by providing: best practice fundraising communication products, relevant and timely multimedia content and strategic tools and research to boost UNHCR brand equity and improve brand coherence.
This position has been created to deliver communication on PSP campaigns that engage both IG and LG donors including Cause Related Marketing and thematic fundraising campaigns.
WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS

We are also close to Copenhagen's ferry terminal and only minutes away from the Copenhagen¿s main public transport system; with bus 26 located approximately 10 minutes away from the office and Nordhavn train station located approximately 800m from the office.
