Moscow hosts Meeting of G8 Ministers of Labour and Employment. Productive employment is on the agenda.

MOSCOW, 9 October (ILO News). A Meeting of G8 Ministers of Labour and Employment started today in President Hotel in Moscow. The meeting will discuss productive employment as a factor of economic growth and social cohesion.
Mr. Juan Somavia, Director General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) takes part in the meeting. On Tuesday he will present the ILO report “Growth and Decent work: Strengthening the Linkage”.
Today’s programme includes ministerial consultations with social partners. Presentations will be made by Russian and international employers’ and workers’ organizations, heads of G8 delegations, the ILO, European Commission and OECD. The Russian Delegation at the meeting is headed by Health and Social Development Minister Mikhail Zourabov.
The participants will discuss the impact of globalization on employment, the need to optimize the professional and geographic mobility of the labour force and to ensure labour market efficiency through increasing its flexibility.
