The third session of the Ministerial Conference on Transport is going to take place in Moscow, Russia

The convening of the third session of the Ministerial Conference on Transport in 2016 was endorsed by the Commission at its 71st session in May 2015. In pursuance of ESCAP resolution 68/4 of May 2012 on the Implementation of the Ministerial Declaration on Transport Development in Asia and the Pacific, including the Regional Action Programme for Transport Development in Asia and the Pacific, phase II (2012-2016), and the Regional Strategic Framework for the Facilitation of International Road Transport, the forthcoming Conference which will be convened from 5 to 9 December 2016 in Moscow have the crucial tasks to:

  • Discuss the future policy direction for regional transport development;
  • Assess the implementation of the Regional Action Programme for Transport Development in Asia and the Pacific, phase II (2012-2016); and
  • Consider and adopt a new regional action programme for sustainable transport connectivity in Asia and the Pacific, phase I (2017-2021).

The Conference will comprise two segments: (a) senior officials segment, to be held from 5 to 7 December 2016; and (b) ministerial segment, to be held on 8 and 9 December 2016. The Conference is part of a series of quinquennial ministerial conferences organized by the ESCAP secretariat, consisting of the Ministerial Conference on Infrastructure (New Delhi, 1996), the Ministerial Conference on Infrastructure (Seoul, 2001), the Ministerial Conference on Transport (Busan, Republic of Korea, 2006), and the Ministerial Conference on Transport (Bangkok, Thailand, 2012).

The Conference will be held back-to-back with the traditional annual Transport Week of the Russian Federation. The 10th anniversary of the International Forum and Exhibition "Transport of Russia" will also be held in Moscow from 26 November to 2 December 2016.

Online Registration

Participants are requested to register online to facilitate smooth coordination of the issuance of name badges and compilation of the list of participants. Kindly note that registering online prior to the meeting is mandatory in accordance with standard United Nations security procedures to facilitate security clearance and entrance to the Conference venue.

Kindly note that only the names of participants who are duly credentialed and who have registered online will be included in the list of participants.
