Moscow Branch of UNEP Regional Office for Europe
The Moscow Office of the United Nations Environment Programme
(UNEP) was officially opened in January, 2004 as a branch of the UNEP Regional
Office for Europe located in Geneva (Switzerland). The main objective of the
UNEP Moscow Office is to develop cooperation between the Russian Federation and
United Nations Environment Programme by establishing and strengthening
interaction with executive and legislative authorities of Russia,
non-governmental organizations, scientific and business communities.
Basic modalities of cooperation include environmental projects
in Russia and other CIS countries, in particular under the Global Environment
Facility, joint efforts towards addressing global and regional environmental
issues, developing the system of international and national environmental legal
instruments, disseminating and sharing environmental information.
