2005 UNDP National Human Development Report 'Russia in 2015: Development Goals and Policy Priorities'
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Russian Federation presented the 2005 National Human Development Report Russia in 2015: Development Goals and Policy Priorities on 17 October 2005. This report, the tenth in the series of the national reports launched by UNDP in cooperation with the Government of the Russian Federation in 1995, is dedicated to the adaptation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) in the Russian context. The Report was prepared by a group of independent Russian experts with participation of the UN agencies and support of the Centre of Strategic Research as well as in active dialogue with state bodies. Monitoring of the Millennium Development Goals, being currently customized by the Government for Russia, is a key step in the forthcoming implementation of the recommendations of the National Report. http://www.undp.ru/index.phtml?iso=RU&lid=1&cmd=publications1&id=48
2006 UNDP Global Human Development Report ‘Beyond Scarcity: Power, Poverty and the Global Water Crisis’
In a world of unprecedented wealth almost 2 million children die each year for want of a glass of clean water and a toilet. Beyond the household, competition for water for production intensifies, while the environment and the rural poor lose out. Debunking the myth that the global water crisis is the result of scarcity, the 2006 Human Development Report argues that poverty, power and inequality are at the heart of the problem.
The Report offers fresh new data on how many poor people go without water and sanitation, the inequality of access within and between nations, and on what clean water really means for child survival rates. It argues for a concerted drive to achieve water and sanitation for all through national strategies and proposes models of cooperation to resolve cross-border tensions in water management.
The global launch took place in Cape Town, South Africa. Simultaneous launches were conducted in New York, Toronto, and Oslo. http://hdr.undp.org/hdr2006/report.cfm
