Russia and UNDP sign a funding agreement to benefit regional and global development

Moscow, 11 June, 2015 — UNDP Administrator Helen Clark and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov signed an agreement today that establishes the Russian Federation – UNDP Trust Fund for Development, with initial funding of $25 million from Russia over the next four years.

The Fund has been created in accordance with the Partnership Framework Agreement between UNDP and Russia which was signed in January 2015.

Russia Donates 31 Trucks To Deliver Food To Afghans In Need

The World Food Programme (WFP) in Afghanistan took delivery today of 31 heavy duty trucks, donated by the Government of the Russian Federation, to replace ageing vehicles and boost WFP’s capacity to deliver food to some of the most far-flung areas of the country.

The Kamaz cargo trucks will help WFP deliver food across the country, with each vehicle able to hold up to 12 metric tons. Along with a mobile fuel tanker, also delivered today, they are collectively valued at US$2.5 million.
