Background
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Project Associate is responsible for supporting the management of the UNDP project - Engaging Russian business in GC-driven sustainable development. The project aims for the joint development of sustainable projects by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in Russia and by Russian and Multinational Companies, who are either currently participating, or are intending to participate in the UN Global Compact (UNGC) - Russia. UN Global Compact is an initiative that encourages companies to abide by the ten universal principles of the UNGC, in the spheres of human rights, labor rights, environment and anti-corruption. Over 6,000 companies from over than 130 countries joined the initiative.
The key priority of the project is the development and implementation of projects that will minimize the economic, social and environmental impact of the economic crisis for the company-participants of the UNGC - Russia. This is a five year project with the planned budget over $3,000,000. The project's strategy is based on realization of two interrelated components: the implementation of the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact into the practices of Russian and foreign companies in Russia, and the development of joint projects by the UNDP and Russian businesses in the spheres of corporate social responsibility (CSR), public-private partnerships (PPP) and sustainable socio-economic development in the territories in which those companies do business.
